Ahuriri Business Park

Ahuriri Business Park

In 2007 Tom McKimm and his father Ray stood in the middle of what once had been a busy street in Ahuriri, Napier's historic seafront suburb. They stood out there, on the centre white line, for about 15 minutes and talked about the ‘pros and cons' of shifting their Wellington-based business, Big Save Furniture, to the traffic-free, silent and effectively abandoned, industrial side of the area. Not one car went by.

Ahuriri Business Park is now one of the largest mixed-use business parks in New Zealand. It houses a variety of different business operations ranging from retail, storage, childcare and offices.

The recent growth in Ahuriri has been dramatic.  Over 50 businesses including professional services, retailers, gyms and convenience stores have opened up with the Ahuriri Business Park, employing over 900 people.
